Techinical characteristics of back-ventilated cladding facade systems

Thermal insulation
Combined application of the system with ventilated air gap, heat insulation material and partial reflection of solar radiation by the cladding material ensure natural ventilation. This reduces the amount of heat that buildings absorb in hot weather. Favourable microclimate and considerable reduction in the costs of air conditioning are achieved accordingly. Especially in the countries with high temperatures up to 50C (e.g. Middle East and Africa) thermal insulation effect is of crucial importance.

Heat insulation
The constructive design is aimed to protect the heat insulation material against condensation, which causes deterioration of the heat-saving properties. Back-ventilated facade systems make it possible to prevent considerable loss of energy and to reduce the thickness of supporting walls accordingly. The heat insulation properties of the wall are considerably improved, resulting in heating costs savings.

Weather resistance
Moisture represents one of the main dangers for any construction. Ventilated facade protects a building from moisture penetration and facilitates its evaporation from the bearing wall surface. As result the amount of moisture in the wall decreases and the ‘chimney effect’ becomes stronger.

Diffusion of water vapours
Water vapours occurring on the wall of a building are removed through natural ventilation, provided by the technical design of back-ventilated facade systems. In this way the heat insulation properties of the wall are considerably improved and favourable temperature regime inside a building is reached.

Thermal deformations
Due to the special worked-out design and installation procedure, the U-kon profile system is able to absorb thermal deformations that are the result of daily and seasonal temperature fluctuation and the differences between the expansion coefficients of the various materials making up a building.

Fire safety
The constructive materials and elements belong to the category of inflammable or fire resistant ones, what prevent fire spreading in case of fire accident.

Sound insulation
The systems as a main part of back-ventilated facade system tend to influence the function of external noise reflection. A certain level of acoustic absorption obviously depends on the properties of reflection, absorption and acoustic transmission of the materials, cladding and insulating materials, as well as their dimensions, thickness, positioning; air gap and the behaviour of the building structure.
